Alright. I, for one, am getting highly annoyed at all of these terms and words being thrown around like friggin' baseballs. Words like "God-modding" and "Auto-hitting." Here's a small Hateshi Breakdown of these terms:
God Modding: God Modding is essentially the controlling of another person's actions/bodily functions.
Example: "Ying punched Yang in the chest, breaking his rib and causing his body to go flying backward, pummeling into a wall before sliding to the ground.
Non-Example: "Ying punched Yang in the chest with enough force to fracture his ribs, throwing more force into the punch in attempt to throw him backward before stepping back a few feet, watching Yang carefully for a reaction."
Auto Hitting: Auto Hitting is a popular one running around the site these days. And, in my personal opinion, I'm finding that it's being dragged out of proportion. Auto Hitting is much like God Modding, but with SEQUENCIAL MEANING.
When it comes to Forum RP, if we went by the definition of Auto-Hitting everyone seems to be using, fights would be dull and boring, for no one would lay a single hit and everyone would just dodge an attack and send a counter-attack with an opening to get around. Ahhh no.
What I mean by Sequencial Meaning is if I post an attack that has an opening and my opponent dodges it like this:
Hateshi: -..fires a blast of reiatsu at Kaibun's chest..-
Kaibun: -..rolls to the right, sending an arrow at Hateshi's stomach..-
My next post might be like this:
Hateshi: -..shunpos to Kaibun's side, avoiding the arrow and hitting him with the flat of the blade in the back, sending him flying forward..-
Kaibun: -..flies forward, catching himself on his hand and rolling to a stop, firing an arrow to Hateshi's feet, the impact burst throwing him backward..-
Now, this is where you all go "ZOMG AUTO HITTER AJSKDFAJSDFJSKALDFJ JSJDAFKLJSF?!!?" But, in fact, if we were to use SEQUENCIAL MEANING, this makes sense. The first post has an opening. The second post, in a logical sense, should possess the permission to deal some sort of damage to the opponent.
Now of course, if you abuse this and go "BLAYAYAYY HUGE ATTACK RAAAAUGH DEFEATED BECAUSE OF SEQUENCIAL RULE"....Then you're mentally handicapped and are considered an Auto-Hitter. But something that deals an average amount of damage and does something that throws the opponent back, takes out a certain part of their strategy, etc. is acceptable clearly.
Just use your common sense and for God friggin' sake stop tossing this pair of words around like a damn salad.
Thank you for reading and I hope you take this into consideration before you start pissing and moaning about a character laying a hit on you. It's gonna happen. It's a fight. You'll get scratched and tossed around a bit. Suck it up, keep at it, learn to fight, and you won't have anything to worry about.
